Don't Drop the Soap

I truly believe anyone can flip anything. Most recently, the son of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius invented "Don't Drop the Soap," a board game with a prison theme. Twenty three year old John Sebelius created the game as a class project at the Rhode Island School of Design. His mother, U.S. Magistrate Judge Gary Sebelius and his father have been very encouraging as he steps into the world of marketing his product.

The game allows you to fight your way through 6 locations in hopes of being granted parole. As described by the products website "Escape prison riots in The Yard, slip glass into a mob boss' lasagna in the Cafeteria, steal painkillers from the nurse's desk in the Infirmary, avoid being cornered by the Aryans in the Shower Room, fight off Latin Kings in Gang War, and try not to smoke your entire stash in The Hole."

The press has been all over this story, so free advertising will help boost demand for the product, additionally, John has offered an enticing lure to help sell his first 3000, a certificate of authenticity for limited edition prints.

How many ideas have you come up with, and let sail away, or float by unnoticed? Maybe it's time to take a lesson from a Judges son, and flip that product.

Flipping Willie Horton

In politics, flipping is everything. No, not flipping as in changing sides, but flipping information or ideas, profiting not from their sale, but their acceptance. Willie Horton is again in the news, why? Well, put simply, the holiday political season has begun, and it ain't snow thats raining down. In 1988, Willie Horton was used to dessimate the Michael Dukakis campaign , you can't easily buy that sort of ammunition. What matters is not necessarily the facts, but how you flip the story and sell it to the viewers.

Appalachian State Football and Real Estate?

So what does Appalachian State have to do with Real Estate? Well, I was researching real estate in NC and got sidetracked with the news that Appalachian State beat Michigan 34-32. Talk about short attention span. Needless to say, in my Google searching, I came across Michael Bradford's Real Estate Blog . Funny how when looking for one thing you often find something completely different. Michael has some really good advice for those looking to flip, and has some examples of his recent flipping.

Don't just flip and run, reflection is the key to balance

"Reflection balances experience, it allows us to process our sensory data and file it away and make sense of the world." In Mind Like Water: Keeping Your Balance in a Chaotic World , Jim Ballard talks about meditation, reflection, and thinking in a mind like water state. I bought this some time ago and have been reading it slowly. It's definately a find at your local library, or used via ebay or Amazon .
