Getty Center Architect, Richard Meier

Can you flip ideas? Sure you can, as we've talked about before, flipping mostly refers to real estate, but can be applied to ideas, information, and products! Take for example, the Getty Center. Seen from the San Diego Freeway, tucked away in the Santa Monica hills, is the Getty Center. Architects Richard Meier and Laurie Olin designed a beautiful and artistic structure. Take a look at some of the Gettys fantastic features. In the end of your flipping, what will last, and will you be remembered? This is definately a lesson for those who wish to make an impact in their lives. Flip your ideas into something concrete. Something that will last for generations and give something back to society. Moving Lips Speakerphone keeps your hands free

How do you market a metallic mouth that moves its lips in sync with a speakerphone? "Hands free desk lips" free up your hands and clip to your phone for a hands free conversation. Could this be just what you've been looking for, to make those boring calls more fun and exciting? Now I ask myself, is this a product that has no real market, or is there a niche market out there who have been saying to themselves, I wish my phone had lips? Maybe you should pre-order now?

Bling h20 Water for the filthy rich

OK , well maybe not for the filthy rich, but you have to be willing to spend nearly $50 for a bottle of the clear wet stuff. How do you flip something that everyone already has? How do you take water and make it worth $50 a bottle? Ask yourself, could marketing to a niche really be that easy and lucrative?

Two Buck Chuck wins Best Chardonnay in California

We've talked about Wine in the past , and it's always a good subject to start off the weekend. As if flipping isn't hard enough, a $2 wine beats out some of the highest priced bottles at this years California State Fair. Trader Joes, which sells 2 buck chuck, really knows what they are doing! Flipping bottles of wine at a low cost and high volume, while not going to make an individual investor or mom and pop shop rich, is something to learn from. Trader Joes knows people will shop for dinner, or lunch, and pick up some of this excellent tasting low priced wine. It's the best form of marketing considering all the press they are getting now for free! I've had it on many occasions and its great for drinking and cooking with. I like it better than many higher priced competitors. In a time where price seems to reflect on quality (but has nothing to do with it in many cases), this is a sure win for Trader Joes. It will be interesting to see if demand can keep up now that

On the Road Again

Travel really gives you a good perspective on life doesnt it? You are stuck in a car, plane, or other type of vehicle for some amount of time and often you are left to your own devices for entertainment. While this can be an important time for reflection, I also find it a good way to look inward for inspiration. As countless travelers hit the planes, trains, and automobiles this summer, many will seek out gadgets, gizmos, or devices to make their trip easier, vacation more enjoyable, or walk through security less eventfull. How often do you travel? Have you noticed the recent surge in products and services geared towards travelers? Would SuperMan buy an airline ticket, or fly direct?

Yahoo Down?

Yahoo reportedly is having problems keeping its server infrastructure online, the IM client, Flicer, and the main home page all seem to be having issues. It's unclear how serious the issue is, or if there is an issue with Yahoo at all. Times like this make me wonder what the impact of going public could be vs. silence. Stories on the internet are a blaze with rumor and suppositioin. If Yahoo would release a statement, it would give people some real information to go off of. This is a good contrast to Miss New Jersey , and her facing her photo scandal with a press conference.

Miss New Jersey Photo Scandal

Recently Amy Polumbo aka Miss New Jersey announced she is being blackmailed for some old photos of her and her friends. It looks like someone is trying to flip and grow rich overnight, however maybe they didn't realize that blackmail is pretty much illegal in every state. What could have turned out to be a bad situation may end up being used for some good old fasioned marketing. Amy Polumbo is facing this head on, a wise choice given the options. I've always been a firm believer of facing your demons, rather than trying to keep them in hiding, and in this case she's not really worried about the photos anyway. This has given her an opportunity to get her name in the papers, on the news, and at the tip of everyone's tounge. Not the best way to get publicity, but its still publicity. The big question now becomes, how do you turn something so negative into something positive. Amy has demonstrated that by standing up to her blackmailers, she is doing just that. The public wi
