Survivorman Flips Fear and Excitement

Appealing to our most primal urges and instincts, Survivorman tackles the scenarios that were once commonplace for our ancestors, Surviving. Placing himself in dangerous survival situations, and being his own cameraman has made Les Stroud a well respected survivalist and television personality.

What the heck does this have to do with flipping? Well ask yourself this, what is Les and his production crew doing? Aren't they just taking something (a survival situation) and flipping it for money? While educationaly, there is a monetary reward for selling the experience of survival. It appeals to our basic fears, desires, and primal instincts.

This type of entertainment has an educational value built in, so not only are you entertained, but you are brought back to the basic survivial skills humans once knew in order to live day to day.

Without the comform of a warm home, speedy vehicle, and credit cards, could we survive in the Canadian Rockies, or a Costa Rican Forest?

Flipping Willie Horton

In politics, flipping is everything. No, not flipping as in changing sides, but flipping information or ideas, profiting not from their sale, but their acceptance. Willie Horton is again in the news, why? Well, put simply, the holiday political season has begun, and it ain't snow thats raining down. In 1988, Willie Horton was used to dessimate the Michael Dukakis campaign , you can't easily buy that sort of ammunition. What matters is not necessarily the facts, but how you flip the story and sell it to the viewers.

Appalachian State Football and Real Estate?

So what does Appalachian State have to do with Real Estate? Well, I was researching real estate in NC and got sidetracked with the news that Appalachian State beat Michigan 34-32. Talk about short attention span. Needless to say, in my Google searching, I came across Michael Bradford's Real Estate Blog . Funny how when looking for one thing you often find something completely different. Michael has some really good advice for those looking to flip, and has some examples of his recent flipping.

Don't just flip and run, reflection is the key to balance

"Reflection balances experience, it allows us to process our sensory data and file it away and make sense of the world." In Mind Like Water: Keeping Your Balance in a Chaotic World , Jim Ballard talks about meditation, reflection, and thinking in a mind like water state. I bought this some time ago and have been reading it slowly. It's definately a find at your local library, or used via ebay or Amazon .
