Anthropology and Flipping?

We have always wanted to understand... Take for example a famous quote by one of our greatest Philosophers:

"If you would understand anything, observe its beginning and its development." -Aristotle

Throughout history we've practiced anthropology using what we know... Aristotle used Philosophy and today we have an understanding of scientific principals which are highly evolved forms of logic and reasoning.

What the heck does this have to do with flipping? Well how can you flip anything in the world, without first understanding people. Understanding our desires and emotions? Don't sell a house when people are not buying, don't develop a product and try to find its niche. Use a customer base that's already in place, talk to people, ask them what they need. Develop a product, only after you know people will buy it.

In his book The 4-Hour Workweek Tim Ferriss talks about using Google Adwords for testing product ideas. In a Scoble video interview he discusses how he used Google Adwords for selecting the title of his best selling book! How's that for using the power of the Internets?

Flipping Willie Horton

In politics, flipping is everything. No, not flipping as in changing sides, but flipping information or ideas, profiting not from their sale, but their acceptance. Willie Horton is again in the news, why? Well, put simply, the holiday political season has begun, and it ain't snow thats raining down. In 1988, Willie Horton was used to dessimate the Michael Dukakis campaign , you can't easily buy that sort of ammunition. What matters is not necessarily the facts, but how you flip the story and sell it to the viewers.

Appalachian State Football and Real Estate?

So what does Appalachian State have to do with Real Estate? Well, I was researching real estate in NC and got sidetracked with the news that Appalachian State beat Michigan 34-32. Talk about short attention span. Needless to say, in my Google searching, I came across Michael Bradford's Real Estate Blog . Funny how when looking for one thing you often find something completely different. Michael has some really good advice for those looking to flip, and has some examples of his recent flipping.

Don't just flip and run, reflection is the key to balance

"Reflection balances experience, it allows us to process our sensory data and file it away and make sense of the world." In Mind Like Water: Keeping Your Balance in a Chaotic World , Jim Ballard talks about meditation, reflection, and thinking in a mind like water state. I bought this some time ago and have been reading it slowly. It's definately a find at your local library, or used via ebay or Amazon .
